The successful candidate will fulfill teaching responsibilities at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, fulfill departmental service as needed, and have a record of scholarship as well as an active research agenda.

The School of Criminology, Criminal Justice and Strategic Studies invites applicants for the position of Associate or Full Professor of Criminal Justice, a 9-month position to begin September 1, 2018. The position will be at the university’s Fort Worth location.

Tarleton State University, a member of the Texas A&M University System is located in Stephenville, TX. The Department of Criminal Justice serves approximately 100 Master’s students and 600 undergraduate students, with both face to face and online programs. Required Education/Experience/Skills

A Ph.D. in Criminology, Criminal Justice, or closely-related discipline from an accredited University and recognized by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools as appropriate to the academic area they serve and have completed at least four years of college teaching and pertinent professional experience.

Eligible for the rank of associate professor with demonstrated teaching excellence, scholarly/creative attainment, and professional achievement. The successful candidate shall hold the earned doctorate or terminal degree approved by the University and recognized by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools as appropriate to the academic area they serve. Must show evidence of administrative potential. Teachers of record must possess minimum Southern Association of Colleges and Schools credential standards which normally includes 18 graduate semester credit hours in the subject area.

Preference will be given to candidates with a distinguished record of scholarship and doctoral directive experience. The preferred area of specialization is policing and statistics.

Job Duties

Work Performed

Teaching: Teach a 3/3 load in the course of the 9 month contract; Develop, implement and review effective teaching/learning processes, incorporating appropriate methodology, technology and other tools; Remain current in discipline and update course content when appropriate to reflect current levels of student knowledge in the discipline; Develop a system for ongoing evaluation of both teaching and learning, including expectations of student competency and student learning outcomes; Work in partnership with immediate supervisor through a formal system of evaluation of instruction to identify strengths and weaknesses and identify professional development activities to improve student learning.

Work Performed

Service: Maintain appropriate schedule of office hours for student access and inquiry; Work in partnership with student success personnel on student advising and orientation. Participate in institutional service roles such as but not limited to, college committees, club sponsorship, advisory committees, student/faculty recruitment and mentoring of new and part-time faculty.

Work Performed

Research: Contribute research and scholarly activity within the discipline in the form of professional presentations and publications.
